Overview
PacifiCorp A leading western U.S. energy
services provider and the largest grid
owner/operator in the West, PacifiCorp serves
1.8 million customers in six western states. The
company is comprised on three business units:
Pacific Power (serving Oregon, Washington,
California), Rocky Mountain Power (serving Utah,
Idaho, Wyoming) and PacifiCorp Transmission.
Renewable and non-carbon resources currently
make up 19 percent of PacifiCorp's owned
generation capacity. At year-end 2015,
PacifiCorp had 1,030 megawatts of owned wind
capacity. The most recent Integrated Resource
Plan includes power purchase agreements for more
than 1,100 megawatts of new wind and solar
projects expected to come online by the end of
2017. To benefit customers, the company
partnered to create and energy imbalance market.
The real-time market helps optimize the electric
grid, lowering costs, enhancing reliability and
more effectively integrating renewable
resources.
Pacific Power has contracted with the owners of
seven renewable energy projects to acquire the
renewable attributes of those projects to help
meet the Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) of
Oregon, Washington and California. Four of these
projects are new solar projects scheduled to
begin operation in Oregon in the fourth quarter
of 2016 to deliver power to the PacifiCorp
energy grid. Two other new solar projects in
Utah achieved commercial operation in the past
year.
Mid American Energy Company MidAmerican Energy Company is
a rate-regulated utility that provides energy to
customers in Iowa, Illinois, South Dakota and
Nebraska. Owned and contracted capacity is
8500 MW of which 3,600 MW is renewables. A new
program will add 3000 MW of wind. With a
diversified generation portfolio that includes
wind, coal, natural gas, nuclear, hydro and
biomass, MidAmerican Energy demonstrates
environmental respect by proactively engaging in
emissions-reduction projects. In fact, it's
MidAmerican Energy’s wind projects that not only
foster economic growth, but have established the
company as a recognized leader in the use and
development of renewable energy. NV Energy NV Energy serves
approximately 90 percent of the state with
electricity – keeping the lights on for 1.3
million customers throughout Nevada as well as a
state tourist population exceeding 40 million
annually. NV Energy also provides natural gas
service to 155,000 customers in the Reno-Sparks
area.
NV Energy serves its customers through a
generation portfolio primarily fueled by natural
gas but renewable energy also is an important
part of the company's generation mix. Currently,
the company has contracts with 35 renewable
energy facilities to provide energy to
customers, including geothermal, solar thermal,
solar photovoltaic, hydro, biomass, wind and
waste-heat recovery. Five additional projects
are in development or under construction. BHE Renewables
BHE Renewables encompasses BHE Solar, BHE Wind,
BHE Geothermal, BHE Hydro as well as renewable
project development and commercial management.
BHE Renewables owns solar, wind, geothermal and
hydroelectric projects that produce energy for
both the wholesale market and for customers
under long-term power agreements.
Solar capacity is 1,278 MW . Wind capacity
is 1153 MW. Geothermal is 348 MW and hydro
is 138 MW.
BHE Wind operates
six unregulated wind-powered generation projects.
BHE Geothermal owns
10 geothermal facilities in California’s
Imperial Valley.
BHE Hydro has
the capacity to produce 138 megawatts of
electricity; 10 megawatts are produced through
the Wailuku hydroelectric facility in Hawaii,
and 128 megawatts are produced through the
Casesnan project located in the Philippines. Topaz
Solar Farms is a 550-megawatt solar power plant
in San Luis Obispo County, California. The
project declared commercial operations in
October 2014. It’s among the world’s largest
completed solar farms and uses over 8 million
