AIR POLLUTION CONTROL MARKETS 2005-2015

Background Data

Air pollution equipment can be broadly segmented into particulate control from stationary sources, gas treatment from stationary sources, mobile treatment, monitoring and testing, and consulting services. Figure A-1 shows the broad segmentation of the industry. Figures II-2 through II-6 show a more detailed breakdown.

Particulate Control

Particulate control can be divided into electrostatic precipitation, filtration, centrifugal separation, and scrubbing (Figure A-2). The market for fabric filter systems will rise to $4.5 billion in 2007 up from $4 billion in 2004. Sales of bags (elements) will rise from $900 million this year to over $1 billion in 2007. While most heavy industry in the U.S. will be reducing purchases, the power plants will more than make up for this reduction. In Asia the market in virtually every sector will grow substantially.
